How to scrap your car in Wimbledon

If you've got a scrap car in or near Wimbledon it's easy to have it scrapped for free.

  1. Phone us to arrange a time for the collection of your scrap car and to provide us with as much information on the car as possible.
  2. We collect the logbook from you and tow away the car at the allotted time. Alternatively, you can send the logbook to us before hand. (Even if you don't have the logbook for the vehicle we will still be able to tow away the scrap car but you will need to let us know before we take the vehicle and you will need to write to the DVLA, informing them of your intention to scrap the car.)
  3. You get section 9 of the logbook back, together with an intent of destruction certificate.
  4. You send off section 9 to the DVLA.
  5. We send the rest of the logbook to the DVLA and inform them that the vehicle is off the road (make a SORN) and can be de-registered.
  6. The DVLA should notify you within 4 to 6 weeks.

What do we do with your scrap car once we've towed it away?

Once we've towed away your old car for scrap we will remove any parts that can be reused in some way (such as the tyres and the battery). We then separate out the parts that can be recycled such as the catalytic converter. Any hazardous parts are also removed from your scrap car and properly disposed of and any fuel remaining in the fuel tank is also removed. It is only then that the vehicle can be crushed.
